Birgi
Finally, after six years, the wonderful Ottoman house Cakiraga Mansion in Birgi (Izmir province) has reopened. The hiatus included two years of renovation. But the wait is well worth it.
The mansion was commissioned in 1761 by Cakiroglu Mehnet Bey, a wealthy merchant. He married two ladies, one from Istanbul and one from Izmir. He had images of both cities drawn on the walls of the house so that his wives would not feel homesick.

Next door to the mansion is a cafe. Upstairs is a room full of Ottoman clothes and hats you can try on.
